Disaster Countermeasures Committee

Update: October 22, 2025

Since the Great East Japan Earthquake, earthquakes have occurred frequently, including the Kumamoto Earthquake and the Hokkaido Iburi Earthquake. Furthermore, not only earthquakes but also heavy rain/flood damage, typhoon damage, and other disasters have become increasingly frequent in recent years.

Dialysis therapy requires water and electricity, making it particularly vulnerable to disruption when lifelines are severed by disasters. Consequently, dialysis patients face significant challenges in maintaining their lives during such crises.

Recognizing the critical importance of disaster preparedness, our society established the Disaster Preparedness Committee in 2017, independent from the Risk Management Committee.

Our activities include gathering information during disasters through contributions from members and utilizing the CKDLN network.

For actual disaster support, as one of the four core founding organizations of the Japan Hemodialysis Assistance Team in disaster (JHAT), we cooperate in the biannual training sessions for JHAT members. During actual disasters, we dispatch members as JHAT personnel.

Additionally, we provide support such as awarding CKDLN points to training participants.
